同济大学杨帆副教授应邀到学院访问交流

 

应王骥教授邀请,同济大学航空航天与力学学院副教授杨帆博士于619日到访机械工程与力学学院进行学术交流。杨帆博士2004年获清华大学本科毕业,分别于2005年和2009年在清华大学获得硕士和博士学位。随后,杨帆博士在美国俄亥俄州立大学和加拿大多伦多大学从事博士后工作,于2014年加入同济大学航空航天学院力学系。目前是上海市力学学会等多种学术机构的兼职委员。杨帆博士的研究兴趣包括纳米晶金属的变形与断裂行为,喷丸强化与喷丸成形力学机理,薄壁管件的抗冲击吸能性能,聚合物纳米超薄薄膜的力学性能等。

在报告中,杨帆博士介绍了过去几年他在新的吸能材料的变形模式和抗冲击吸能性能方面的工作。薄壁管件是在交通安全等领域常用的能量吸收构件,其能量吸收性能与其变形模式密切相关。报告主要内容包括薄壁管件抗冲击变形模型的一个理论模型,薄壁管件在倾斜载荷作用下的抗冲击设计和实验研究,还介绍了最新的多层次胞壁抗冲击结构,基于晶格点阵设计的抗冲击结构。杨帆博士的研究结果能为抗冲击材料和结构的设计和应用提供参考,引起了力学学科师生的高度兴趣,在报告后大家进行了热烈讨论。

 

At the invitation of Prof. Ji Wang, Prof. Fan Yang from Tongji University visited the School of Mechanical Engineering & Mechanics, Ningbo University, on June 19, 2019. Dr. Yang gave a talk on the deformation mode and energy absorption performance of several new energy absorbers.

Energy absorbers such as thin-walled tubes are the major components of the passive vehicle safety system. The energy absorption performance of a structure is closely related to its deformation mode. It is important to make sure that the structure is crashed in a progressive deformation mode in the design of energy absorbers, especially under the oblique loading condition. In this work, a theoretical model was developed to obtain the mean crushing force and the instantaneous crushing force for the foam-filled concertina and diamond deformation modes based on the kinematically admissible mechanisms. Experiments and finite element simulations were further carried out to investigate the deformation mode and energy absorption of several new configuration of designs. Finally, feasibility of using multi-level and polycrystal-inspired macro-lattice concepts to design new energy absorbers was discussed. This study aims at providing guidance for design of new energy absorbers with higher specific energy absorption, lower initial peak crushing force, and more stable deformation mode.

Dr. Fan Yang is an Associate Professor at Tongji University and currently the Assistant Dean of the School of Aerospace Engineering and Applied Mechanics. He received his B.S. in Engineering Mechanics from Tsinghua University and his Ph.D in Mechanics from Tsinghua University in 2009. He worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher respectively in the Ohio State University and University of Toronto from 2019 to 2014. Then he started to work in Tongji University from 2014. His research interests include fracture behavior of nanocrystalline metals, energy absorption of thin-walled structures, thermal stress analysis of electronics, ultrathin polymer films, and so on. He has published more than 30 papers in peer-reviewed international journals. He is now serving as Secretary-General of the Professional Committee on Solid Mechanics in Shanghai Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Vice Secretary-General of the Professional Committee on Surface Modification in Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society.
